FRIULI II – GORTANI CHEESE, COLLIO, AND AQUILEIA

After numerous cancellations and reschedules, we were finally able to return to Eastern Europe in September, 2022 and join Shannon Essa of Grapehops Tours (Grapehops.com) for another spectacular wine tour. On this trip, we visited Slovenia and Friuli in northeastern Italy. The images in this gallery were taken during our visit to Gortani cheese makers, Liz Fadis winery in Collio, and Aquileia, one of the main archaeological sites in Northern Italy. Aquileia is believed to be the largest Roman city yet to be excavated; the site is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
